Be Informed: Saunders Middle BYOD Policy
It is the expectation that ALL Saunders Middle School students will follow the guidelines and rules set forth in our BYOD Policy.
-Students may bring a personal device to school for valid educational purposes with the approval of a school staff member. Any studentwho brings a communication device on school property consents to theserules according to the PWCS Code of Behavior (COB). Possession ofcommunication devices by students on school grounds is a
privilege, not a right.
-Devices and headphones should be stored prior to entering the building.
-Devices should be out and powered only as directed by staff tosupport instructional activities in a classroom or under direct staffsupervision.
-Acceptable devices include (but are not limited to) laptops, tablets, and cell phones.
-Any expectation of privacy related to the use of student-owned devicesis negated with the failure to comply with BYOD guidelines.
-All device use will be in accordance with PWCS policy 295 (Standards for Use of Telecommunications and Internet Technologies).
-Neither SMS nor PWCS assumes any responsibility for lost, stolen, ordamaged devices. Device safety and security is the responsibility of thestudent.
-Device searches may be conducted if the administrator/security staffhas a reasonable suspicion that it is being used for conduct that iscriminal or a violation of the COB.
-PWCS staff is not responsible for technical support of privately owneddevices.Device cameras should only be used under staff direction forspecified instructional purposes. This includes still photography, videophotography, and
-Device use is prohibited in restrooms, hallways, locker rooms and the cafeteria unless specified by staff.
-Cyber bullying, on and off school grounds, is a violation of the COB.This includes aggressive and unwanted behavior intended to harm,intimidate, or humiliate the victim through emails, social networks andmessaging.
-Violation of these guidelines will result in confiscation and mayinclude corrective action, loss of technology-use privileges, andpenalties under law.

Hallway/bathroom/locker rooms --- Not permitted
Library --- At teacher discretion
Cafeteria --- Not permitted
